Hey guys, I’ve been working on getting accepted to Georgia State (Perimeter College). The requirements for this part of the school are less/lower than that of the main campus. I graduated high school with a low gpa, a 1.9 to be exact due to less than stellar family issues. I got a 24 on the ACT and I aced all the placement tests. What are the chances of getting accepted if the required GPA is 2.0?
Call the school and ask.
If you don’t meet the basic requirement, I don’t think you have much of a chance. Of course, you can always try to explain what happened. My advice? See if you can retake a couple of classes to raise your GPA to a 2.0
Are you saying you’re a traditional freshman applicant? They don’t have a minimum GPA for traditional freshmen applicants. Instead, they use a multiplier, made up of your ACT score and your GPA. So it’s possible that your ACT score, which is higher than their averages, might make up for your GPA, which is lower. In addition to that, the school is allowed to make exceptions to their normal rules for students they consider to have potential, so if you use your essay well, it’s possible you may get in.
So you do have a shot at Georgia Perimeter.
