Low GPA College Options

So I really messed up this past semester and now my GPA is at a 2.75

I now don’t feel confident with the schools I am currently applying to, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for schools I still have a pretty good chance at getting into with my low GPA.

I live in California, but I would be more than happy to go out of state. My major first choice major is business administration, second choice Management.

Please let me know about some schools that I still have a shot at so I can start the application process asap.

To be honest, with a sub-3.0 GPA, you may likely have to first enroll in a community college and then transfer to a 4 year.

I think you have chances at some California state universities campuses and since you don’t mind going out state try state schools like Oregon state or Washington state university etc. I feel like state schools would have lower requirements also I would recommend trying get your GPA up to 3.0 if you can

I recommend those schools seeing how your CA resident you could do that western student exchange tuition thing
So yeah try for state schools Utah state, Colorado state, Nevada state lol
Maybe even some privates

Did you apply to a selection of CSUs already?

A few non-impacted CSUs may still be open for frosh applications: http://www.csumentor.edu/filing_status/

The out-of-state schools offering Western Undergraduate Exchange tuition discounts tend to be the less selective ones. You may want to look at http://wue.wiche.edu/search1.jsp .

Otherwise, California community colleges are a good way to get another chance. Complete two years’ worth of course work, including general education and preparation for your major (see http://www.assist.org ), and your college record will determine your admission as a junior transfer to a UC or CSU.

Community college then UC.

Your best bet is to attend a community college and TAG to one of the 6 UC’s: Merced/Riverside/Santa Cruz/Davis/Irvine or Santa Barbara. Also the California CC’s have articulation agreements with the Cal States. By going to a CC and transferring you have a much better chance of attending a choice college.

Some state university systems are so desperate to get OOS applications that they shave off hundreds of SAT points and expect a far lower GPA in terms of their requirements for OOS compared to their requirements for the offspring of tax payers. You can imagine that we are not talking about Michigan here! These are systems that have failed to develop a positive national reputation and often lose their better students to any/every other state university system. I’m sure there are a few such systems. Of course, there are reasons for those reputations. But the reasons may not impact negatively on you, depending upon what you are looking for in a college.
