Getting straight to the point, what are my chances getting into a T14 law school with a 3.1 overall GPA and a 179 LSAT score?

Not trying to excuse my own failings, but my GPA is extremely low because during my first year at Cornell, I was premed and suffered from depression(probably caused by Seasonal Affective Disorder), but I dunno, was never fully diagnosed(I was kinda embarrassed about it, my parents didn't want a "crazy/mental" son.

So, that dragged it down, I barely passed second semester. I swapped to Psych/Phil double major second year, and did fairly well for the rest of my time undergrad(not as well as I hoped, since I've been a science-oriented student most of my life), but was not that involved in any law-related extracurriculars.

I took my LSATs this past june, and got a 179, but I have not applied yet because I'm not sure if I'm ready to go back to school yet.

Thanks to all for your time and consideration.

I agree with the Brian. Yale is probably out, but blanket the rest of them as someone will bite at the 179 ( minimally Cornell). If you ave all of your stuff ready, apply now

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m going to get in touch with counselors and professors for advice and recommendations. Why should I apply now though? Doesn’t the app process begin early October?

Also, I’m guessing that Yale might not be interested since my GPA is way to low, but I’m not sure if I got your quip about Cornell. Would they be interested, or not as much due to low GPA?

Again, thanks for the answers, I really appreciate it. Being from a premed background, I don’t really know that much about law/legal careers.

^^and thus, do not write a GPA addenda. (C’s – and lower – are common for Frosh premeds, so the LS adcom will not buy the addenda without official documentation of a dx.)
