Low GPA, High LSAT...

Hi,

I am a senior with horrible grades, majoring in Spanish, and will probably end up with a 2.5 GPA and I expect somewhere between a 165-170 in LSAT.

I'm sure someone out there can give me some advice on where to apply, or what I should do.

I've gone through some tough times which partly explain the grades, which I can write about in my Pers. Statement, but aside from that, that's all.

Any suggestions or advice will help. Thank you.

IF you get this 165-170 you would be considered a splitter. Splitter cycles are really hard to predict. the 2.5 gpa will hurt you (a lot) at many schools.

Hm,

What is a splitter, exactly? I've never heard the term before? Do you think strong recommendations as well as strong extracurriculars would help in that regard?

Some students have a high gpa/high lsat.

Some students have a low gpa/low lsat

A splitter is someone who either has

a high gpa and a low lsat or

a high lsat and a low gpa

If you scored between a 165-170 with your 2.5 gpa, you would be a high lsat/low gpa splitter.

I'd say take the test before you predict schools. If you end up pulling a 155 with a 2.5 you won't be a splitter, you'll just be a marginal candidate. No offense intended, but "expected" LSAT scores are generally inflated.

None taken. I understand what you mean, and will update this post when I've gotten my score..
