Here are some numbers of some your-in reach schools GPA wise:

UC-Riverside = 3.42 (weighted)
UC-SB = 3.76 (weighted)
UC-Davis = 3.74 (weighted)
UC- Santa Cruz = 3.46 (weighted)
UC - Irvine = 3.73

Cal Poly = 3.70

With a 3.2 and your SAT and you prob. have good ECs and Recs..

and if you have ESL status, that will also help..

So you can look at all UCs with weighted GPA ranges of

3.0-4.0

I was put in independent school for the next semester of freshman year because i arrived from malaysia...

can anyone confirm that 12 1st sem is not counted? thx

yes, i can confirm that.

Cal Poly's gpa was a 3.89 for 2004, FYI.

3.89 is probably the average acceptance GPA, while 3.70 is the GPA of students who actually went to the school.

Geez, everyone has such high GPA. >_<

Grade Inflation. What can I say.

It's all about the 3.7. w00t.

If your gpa is really low, will they still look at your essay? and is there anyway you canshow them your senior progress grades?

Depends on the admissions process at each college, I guess. But it's going to be an uphill challenge.

lets say top/middle uc...will they check everyone's admissions thoroughly?

No.. UCs are very number based...

they won't let me explain my low gpa? oh i am doomed indeed

well i'm sure you'll get into some college. NOt sure about the UCs but as the cliche goes "there is a college for everyone." YOu don't even have to go to a CC.

Thanks

I emailed ucla and hope they will give me a reply

Emailed them

got this back:

Richard,

UCLA cannot comment on any student's specific chances of

admission and cannot offer counseling to maximize competitiveness.
Additionally, UCLA never discourages students from applying.

Never discourages students from applying? But hmm I sure hoped they said they encourage me to apply..haha

eh, i already said

i had a really low gpa, probably lower than yours. of course they'll at your essay, and it'll definitely help you if it's good enough. and of course you can go to a UC, there are much worse students than you at some of them.

I think your essay can help. I got into UCSB as a freshman for Fall 2003 with a 3.2 GPA and a 1280 SAT, so anything is possible.

heh tht mean your lazy, but your smart; i think colleges want people that will actually work hard. sorry, look at some community colleges

woo i see a ray of hope rc :P
