low gpa, no extracurriculars -- can I get into Penn State?

I’m an international student that will be paying full tuition. My SAT score is decent 580 CR, 580 M, 460 W, but my GPA is roughly equivalent to a 1.5 at the most (IB 24, IGCSE very poor). I also have no extracurricular activities. What are my chances of getting in to Penn State–any campus? Also, someone at teh admissions office told me that they were still accepting apps, but when I sent it in she said that she was mistaken and that I can be considered for the january semester. does the fact that she made a mistake give me leverage in any way?

PSU cares about grades the most. If you have low grades, it’s not likely.

They are modified rolling admissions, so technically they accept apps almost all the time, but there are definitely no spots left for this fall now. They over-enrolled this year. Apply this fall to attend in fall 2017.

Someone making a mistake does not give you any “leverage,” especially when the information involved is something you can look up on their website.

I had a guy from my school get in this year with a 2.9 gpa and 1400 sat (out if 2400). What helped him get in was the fact he was a minority (being brutally honest here). I’d say u have a really slim chance of getting in.
