Yes, CMU does not consider high school freshman year. My impression of CMU is that of a pre professional type of school. You are applying to a school within the university. There are kids that combine disciplines but most are singularly focused. It’s curriculum does not lend to exploration. CFA requires an audition or portfolio.

My S is in the CFA- Design at CMU. OP please continue to keep us updated on your college journey and let us know where you land. We are all rooting for you!

Yes, do let us know how your college search and admission journey is going. We’re all rooting for you :)

OP, some of us are curious to know how the search is going. Could you please fill us in when you get a chance?
So that you guys are updated, I applied and was accepted to Pennsyvania State University, Abington Campus. I’m going to spend the next two years doing General Engineering and working on my transfer application to University of Pennsylvania. Thank you for all the support.
Thank you for the update and congratulations on your acceptances!
Did you receive a good financial aid package?
Is that your final decision or did you apply to other places?
Do you have a place to live (family…) because PSU Abington doesn’t have a dorm that I know of.
I have no doubt you’ll complete your pre-requisites and that you’ll make it to Penn State Main Campus (or perhaps Penn?)
It’s good to see that you opened up your search to consider other areas of PA. Can you tell us how it turned out at some of the other schools we discussed? How did you come to decide on a branch campus?
