I have read a little about the scholarship for low income students to UNC and was wondering about the details. I saw that the income level was under 37,000, but which income is considered? If my parents are divorced does only my mom's income count? Does child support count towards it if it ends when i turn 18? She is self employed so her adjusted gross income is under the mark, but her total income is over (lots of business expenses). Which one counts?

You should contact unc’s office of student aid. They can answer these specific questions. If you qualify for the covenant, it’s one of the best packages out there. Basically full cost of attendance as long as you work a job on campus. I think the cutoff is 200% the federal poverty line. Also they usually will give you a laptop grant, summer school funding and various grants for things like professional clothing which comes in handy for interviews.

Let me know if you have any questions about the Carolina Covenant.
