Low lsat, high gpa?

I have not taken the lsat yet as I'm only a college soph. GPA is 3.85...just declared my major in History at Cornell Arts and Sciences.
I think the gpa is awesome, but I don't test that well (only got 1420 on the SAT between the reading and the math).
Is there any correlation between college gpa and lsat score? What if I only get in the 150's, or even worse, the 140's?..will my 3.85 at Cornell count for anything? Also, I'm Latino.
Do internships, leadership, and all that other stuff that mattered when applying to college count for anything?
Thanks..the weight given to the lsat is really making me nervous.

1420 is fine. You have nothing to worry about.

i disagree with mike. ive read that law schools only care about LSATs and GPA means nothing to them… if you ace the LSATs and have a mediocre GPA, youd be fine over bad LSATs and better GPA…

LSATs all the way… sorry, i know thats not what you wanted to hear…

To a certain degree, but most law schools have both unofficial GPA and LSAT cutoff lines. The GPA line is generally easier to achieve though, eg NYU’s is only a 3.4 vs a 172 LSAT for this past cycle, but both are critical for admissions.

This is not a disagreement with me, and there’s no need to be condescending about it. Of course the LSAT is important. But a 1420 is reflective of perfectly fine standardized testing scores and there is nothing to worry about.

Yes, but if the high gpa comes from cornell university, does that count for anything?

dulce- a 3.85 gpa from cornell and urm status will give you a bit more wiggle room than others- but you are still going to need a solid LSAT- and that would probably be at least in the low 160 range for a top law school admittance.
the only thing you can do re: LSAT is to study hard, be prepared and do the best you can do.
and puhleeze- a 1420 SAT is just fine. Don’t tell us you don’t do well on standardized tests.
my kid also has a good gpa from cornell and will have a few years of very solid work experience. My guess is that it will put her on “top of the pile” of kids who basically have the same gpa/lsat score as she does. It’s not going to move her ahead of kids that have stronger scores.

^^^^^

That
