Low October ACT writing scores?!

I have just received my October ACT 2015 writing score and it is too low to be correct. I received a 32 in english and a 30 in reading. How in the world did I get a 20 in writing?! I know there is something wrong because I received a 26 last time and felt better about this one than the September one. Might this have happened because they released the writing scores so fast? I mean they just released all multiple choice scores 2 days ago. The writing scores came out 2 weeks early. Is this happening with anyone else?

BUMPP Am I the only one that received a writing score unusually early that was also bad? Should I contact them? Or am I just overestimating my writing capabilities? I am worried because someone else that received a 30 composite ended up getting a 14/36 on the essay. Just like me, he also revived his essay score 2 weeks earlier than usual.

I am on the same boat as you. I got a 30C but a 20 on the writing. I know for a fact that I can wright very well. I have no idea how I did so poorly.

@16jpatel I don’t know either. I am the only student to get over a 95% on an essay in AP English at my school (tough grader), but I managed to get below average on the ACT writing.

I think the writing scores in general are lower than the Reading and English scores. DS took the Sept ACT and had a 36 in Reading and a 35 in English but he had much lower writing score.

I got a 35 and 36 in English when I took the test, but an 8 on the essay both times. I can assure you that I am an above average writer and I’m in multiple English classes, including IB HL Literature. Plus a 770 on the Lit SATII. ACT writing is not always accurate and it is not always reflective of ability. The main reason behind this, at least in my thinking, is because the essay required for the ACT is very different than the types of essays we write in class.

Me too, I got 7 on the essay and 34 in english and 36 in reading

I got a 33 reading and 31 English, but a 22 on the writing. :-/

@SJLVNV Did you receive a 7 on the October act writing, or the old ACT writing where the score was out of 12?

I got a 17 on the September and a 23 on the October in writing. Something is off

I also got a score much, much lower than what I’d have expected from my English and Reading scores. A lot of people seem to feel the same way, but does this happen every ACT, or is this unusual? I haven’t put in enough research to know.

sorry, actually I got 19 on my writing for Oct 2015 test

DS got a 35 composite on the October ACT (34E/36M/34R/34S) but a 17!! on the writing. We are not sure if he should retake it. Thoughts?
