Low SAT Acceptances

Can anyone post people with low SAT score who got into top schools? There was a thread similar in 2010, but I think that thread is too outdated

It would be helpful for more people to post in this thread. The only thing bad about my application is my SAT Score (1140 combined reading and math).

me too lol

anyone with knowledge of people who got low SAT scores and got into top schools, please post their stats.

I know someone who got into Stanford with a 1110 (CR+M). Anything at this level makes it very hard to get into top schools unless you have an amazing hook.

would you know what was his hook?

Look at test-optional schools if your GPA is much better than your test scores -

thanks for your post BeanTownGirl. it is really helpful. but we would like to know about those who got into the best schools despite their low scores in the SAT

I do have concerns about test optional schools… what happens if none of the schools that are test optional you don’t want to go to? Like maybe you can only stay in your home state but those schools don’t have your majors etc and your SATs are quite low.? then what.

I think “low SAT score” should be defined for the purposes of this thread… Most people on College Confidential tend to think that anything below perfect is low, so we might get some people saying, “OMG my friend got into Princeton with a 2240 and I was like OMG I HAD A 2400 AND GOT REJECTED”.

Maybe we could say that it’s anything below 2000 (or maybe 1200-ish on a 1600 scale)? 1700-1900 still isn’t too low, but for elite admissions I guess it becomes a bigger challenge once you drop below 2000.

yes this thread aims to look at the stats of those who got 2000 and less in the SAT and still got in top colleges
