How detrimental is an SAT Subject Test score (Math Level 2, Biology M) in the 600s, to my college application? I am applying to all UCs (safeties, matches, and reaches), 3 CSUs (safeties), some Ivies (dream schools), and some T20s (matches + reaches).
I have all A’s, and all of my classes have been either AP, Honors, or Dual Enrollment. I have a 1490 SAT (790 Math, 700 English). I will be taking the SAT again, to try to raise my English score.
CSU’s do not consider SAT II subject tests unless you are using them to fulfill an a-g course requirement. UC’s recommend SAT II subject tests for some majors, so it depends upon which UC’s and intended major. If you are targeting the top UC’s, then those SAT II subject tests will not help your application and I would not report them.
I would not report these scores either. If there is a school on your list that requires them, they will hurt your application.
@Gumbymom @momofsenior1 Thank you! Would it hurt my application more to not report the scores at all? I have a 660 in Math Level 2, and am taking the Bio test soon.
None of the UC’s have SAT II subject test recommendations for Biology majors so I would not submit them if they are under 700. Good scores could add positively to your application and they should showcase your proficiency in those subject areas.
