Hi Im a junior and i will be applying ED to WIlliams. I took my SAT for the fist time and I didnt get such a hot score. However i have a 3.8 average and I am on a varsity crew team. I also have a many ECs and I am a first generation. Will Williams judge me just on my SAT score? Should I even try getting recruited? What will I need to do to stand out?

What was the score? Hard to tell you much w/o that. Regardless, you can still retake. Williams certainly won’t judge you solely on your SAT score, but if it’s not competitive, then your application probably won’t be either.

It was in the 1500s. But I am retaking it in October. I plan to gain 300 or so points. On the website they stated that SAT scores can only help you, but not hurt you. Im taking the Subject Tests in Lit, Bio, Math 1, Spanish, and US History, and WOrld History to make up for the possibility of a low SAT score.

I think if Williams does indeed say that, it’s totally disingenuous for a school with their average score. Even if you’re a recruited athlete, 1800 is probably too low. I would not apply ED, wait and get the score up.

Should I consider the ACT?

Yep. Consider the ACTs as well… you always want to expand your options, just so that you can stay safe.

Yes…

Thanks. Im going to register. :)
