Low school grades but high test scores ?

I’m a female student from India who wants to major in computer science. I have decent ECs and I decided to take a gap year. However, my scores for final year would come to be low, around 70-80% in boards.
I have 34 act, 800s on three subject tests, and I also would score well in APs this May. Would the grades affect my admission in any way?

I am aiming at top public schools, like purdue and Umichigan.

GPA is pretty important, especially for international applicants. I would say try your best to get that score to as close to 90% as possible.

Sure thank you, I’ll try to improve it , I was hospitalized so that the reason couldn’t write them well.I have a 96% and 85% in grade 10 and 11. I have good ECs, and I’m giving 5 APs.

GPA > SAT because your GPA indicates your performance throughout your four years of high school as well as how hard you work. Nevertheless, SAT is also quite important but emphasis is placed on your record in high school rather than a test taken on a Saturday morning.
On the whole, most, if not all, of the factors - GPA, SAT, ECs, Essays, LORs - need to go your way to get into a good school in the US.

Your GPA is actually fine for Indian boards (which work differently from US high schools). However, have a broad list. Furthermore, adding a Canadian and/or UK university, which will only use your scores, may provide good safeties.

Thank you for your replies. Would you recommend me to give the tests again? Would it affect the application in any negative way?

@SlansterPeach I’ve had pretty decent scores during my high school, its just this one which would turn out to be pretty low due to some circumstances. Would you suggest me to give it again?

yes you could take some tests again, which ones would you retake?

In India, if you aren’t satisfied with your scores in particular subjects, there’s improvement exams wherein you get to sit for the tests again. They are typically held in July after we get the results in May. Two of my subjects didn’t go well, and ultimately it will depend on what I score

Yes, there’s no harm in trying.

@shehopes woow, u guys r lucky - i wish that we had that in the us
