Hi,
I am wondering if anyone with low SSAT scores would be willing to share where they’ve been admitted. (And by low, I don’t mean 85%- let’s say anyone out there on CC who has less than 70%.)
Thank you!
Check the March 10 decision threads. I think sudents generally post their stats.
I was going to say the same thing. Those threads are provided, in part, to allow others to use as research.
Keep in mind, that with very few exceptions, any students on the prep school boards are applicants who will disappear after decisions are made. A small percentage of them will return when college admissions roll around.
You should check the stats thread from last year.
We know a legacy boy with low SSAT scores who was accepted to Exeter. Check out the Acceptance-Decision Thread. Also, we know several boys who played on winning JBS teams who did not score well on SSAT, but they did get into selective BS’s.
I feel that everyone on CC has excellent stats when I look through the decision threads! however, I will carry on- thank you for the suggestion.
You should check out a YouTuber named YOME. He made a few videos on Exeter and his time there (he graduated last year). I’ll note that he (according to him) did not score well on the SSAT yet he thrived at Exeter. He’s now at some college in Texas fulfilling his dreams and passions.
I also get indimidated when reading the decisions threads. They make me feel super unqualified. Try to not compare yourself to others, not only on CC but in real life as well. From my experience, it causes more damage than good.
@YoungThriver Omg YOME was one of the reasons I decided to apply to boarding school in the first place. Keep in mind, however, that while he didn’t score that well on the SSAT, he did have literally all A’s in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Ultimately high grades will have an easier time making up for a low SSAT score than a high SSAT score trying to make up for low grades.
@CClife I’m well aware of that fact and I probably should have mentioned that to the OP. I remember reading the comment section in one of his YouTube videos and he claimed to be at the top of his class during middle school. I always assumed that Staight-As or at least relatively high grades were a given when it comes to applying to these elite schools.
