Low subject SATs for Johns Hopkins - should I apply without them?

I have low subject SATs (720 and 740) for Johns Hopkins along with a 2100 SAT, but with stellar community service. I am also working at a national laboratory on cancer research. Hopkins is my first choice given its location near my home and its reputation as a research university. I plan on entering as an engineering student. I am a poor SAT taker, but have 9 APs as well as my internship. Hopkins recently began asking for SAT subject tests and while they are optional, they are recommended in the sciences. Do I send in my poor subject SAT scores, or should I send my application in without them.

they are good scores but not perfect. make sure you have something that is very strong other than your SAT

Yes, you should send them – everyone applying to Hopkins is basically going in with subject tests and honestly, 720 and 740 aren’t terrible. However, if the 720 is closely tied with your intended major, then you may not necessarily want to send it. But in the end, scores won’t affect your chances by a lot! Best of luck!
