How difficult is it to transfer with less than 60 unites completed? A UC representative told me I could be granted admission as a lower division transfer. I'm still in hs, but I'm taking 7 units this summer, in addition to fall and spring semesters at a jc.

You must have 60 transferable units completed within the spring semester before you transfer. this is a MUST HAVE, do not think that you can get in without having 60. You will be sadly disappointed. Try [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) & UCtransfer.org for more guidelines.

^ Incorrect.

You must have 60 transferable units if you want to transfer under an admission contract/TAG.

And lower division transfers don’t always mean less than 60 units. What it could mean is incomplete pre-requisites, for example an engineering major with IGETC and 60 units who still needs all his math and chemistry and physics. That’s a lower division transfer.

I recommend you consider spending 2 years at the community college, focus on getting a good GPA, IGETC completion and whatever math/science pre-requisites you need.

It depends on what UC you want to attend. UCSD doesn’t require major preparation, but that COULD change.

If you don’t complete 60 then they will evaluate you based on your High School record and your CC record. But they’ll probably only go through this trouble if they are lower tier UC or you’re applying to a less selective major.

A UCR representative told me about it and said they would look at high school and college. Of course, I’m going for 60 units just in case. Taking 7 units over summer :)
