Lower GPA, but high ACT...what are my chances to top schools

GPA UW: 3.64
GPA W: 3.98

ACT Comp: 32

Rower 4 years (3 years varsity) on a perennial contender nationally
Lots of comm. service
Top 10% of class (school doesn't give specific ranks)
Nat'l Honor Society
Scholars Program for Math & Science
From competitive private school
From Chicago area
Major in Econ or Finance
Caucasian
Financial Aid would be really nice, but not a complete deal breaker

Any more info just ask...

I'd like to get into the following
Georgetown Univ
Univ of Michigan
Univ of Illinois (in-state)
Univ of Wisconsin
Carnegie Mellon Univ
Marquette Univ (safety)
Brown Univ (I know, reach)
Dartmouth Univ (see Univ, Brown)

Thanks in advance

Your GPA is not that low and your stats not that high. I would retake the ACT to improve it which might give you a shot at your reaches.

I think you have a good chance for Wisconsin. Since you’re not in the reciprocity zone for them, it might be more difficult, but there are two essay segments that could possibly sway your chances. I don’t really know about the rest, though, sorry!

Ok thanks to both of you.

I would say CMU and Georgetown are probably reaches as well simply because they have such low acceptance rates, but it ultimately depends on your major.

You have a great shot at most of these and a pretty decent shot at the reaches. Good luck!
