Lower UC or Higher CSU?

I like thinking ahead and if I end up in this position, I would like to be able to make a smart decision. Obviously this thread won't be the only thing to dictate my decision, but it will certainly have an influence.

So if you were in a situation where you had to choose between:

UCSC - (Not too sure if I'll like the environment, it may not be for me)
UCR
UCM

Cal Poly SLO
Cal Poly Pomona
San Jose State
San Francisco State

Keeping in mind that your major would be in physics and you plan on going to graduate school. So you may prefer a more theoretical approach as opposed to a more "hands-on" approach. Money is not a factor in the decision.

Thank you in advance.

for grad school, the more theoretical approach (UC) is a no-brainer.

UCSC actually has a pretty strong reputation for physics.

look at the funding for each. There’s no point in going to a higher ranked CSU if it isn’t funded as adaquately as a lower ranked UC
