Lowe's Scholarship 2011

So who applied? We find out if we made semifinalist on March 15 right?

I applied! I hadn’t heard March 15th though, but I knew we got notified in March. Where did you find the March 15 date?

Based on past years, the notification for semifinalists is usually around March 15.

Well that’s great! I’m really hoping to get this scholarship… isn’t this one $2,500? I can rarely remember without going back to my document where I list all the scholarships I’ve applied for. :D

My teacher said she uploaded her recommendation online but its not showing up as submitted on my page…did that happen to anyone else?

I also applied.
Hopefully, we’ll all hear good nows on the 15th

@akapoben She probably should have gotten a confirmation email. I know mine listed the recommendation beneath the application on the home page and said (complete) next to it. Sometimes things don’t get processed on the website, so hope for the best!

I applied as well. Good luck all…

I’m a little worried. I started an online app. but had issues with my computer, so I ended up going the other route and mailing it. The computer just shows me as incomplete.

Say true words, I hope that it shows up ok for you - especially after that Elks issue. The Elks really need to get all of their lodges up to speed on how to run a scholarship program - they seem to have quite a few communication problems. Anyway, your Lowe’s is probably ok - they take a while to log things in I am sure. Good luck!

Thanks for your encouragement. The ELKS thing has shaped some of my thinking in this process, for sure! I am a semi-finalist for a couple other things (was a semi for Coca-Cola but didn’t get it) have received a couple, not counting what the colleges are offering. Just want to go to a school I chose more than I want to go to a school that chose me and has offered me a free ride. Sad, huh? I am OPEN to it and thankful that is on my backburner, but still holding out hope I can provide a way to the other school that has not (will not) offer a full-ride. : ) It IS disappointing that the ELKS don’t have a guideline that is in place to have consistency in EVERY lodge, every state, etc. It could easily be done regardless of whether or not a lodge is financially able to give at “lodge level” or whatever. Additionally, my frustration was that I felt uneasy at the get go and wanted to take my ap to another lodge. I live in a town that has two counties and the other lodge was actually closer to my house but due to the zip code, I had to take it to the other. (In a county that I don’t live in!) That said, the other lodge was helpful when I called and always staffed where the one I took it to didn’t return messages or make it easy to drop off in the first place. : ) Oh well, live and learn. I was going to be very grateful for anything, so I might as well just be grateful that at least I made the effort to apply AND that caused me to be prepared for a multitude of other aps down the road. Right?!

Great attitude! Everyone should be happy that they are putting forth the effort to complete the scholarships. We have learned so much from College Confidential, I almost wish we could start over. My son has done well with colleges & the colleges have offered great scholarships. So far nothing with the national scholarships but we still have more to expect.

I hear ya Say True Words and Agree my DD is in the same boat and I think it is crazy that she could go to several Private Colleges with a full ride but the Public University she wants to go to (awesome Biology program) is costing us $10,000 a year if she don’t get some scholarships. We too are keeping the offers warm but hoping not to have to take them.

Also :

" It IS disappointing that the ELKS don’t have a guideline that is in place to have consistency in EVERY lodge, every state, etc. …Additionally, my frustration was that I felt uneasy at the get go…"

Our closest Lodge was 32 miles away in a very good ol boy type area so I suspect my DD’s wasn’t even looked at because we have never ever heard anything. They don’t answer emails or phone calls. I even emailed the State Scholarship Chairman and got no reply…
People say local is best but we are now not wasting our time on those types because we are Northern transplants in a very small southern town and here it is all about who you know :(

Take Care,
Lisa

Anyone know how many scholarships are awarded?

Each year, Lowe’s will award up to 140 non-renewable $2500 scholarships totaling up to $350,000 in educational assistance.

Anyone heard anything yet???

Nothing here in GA

nothing in sc…

Are we notified by email or regular mail today?

Ok so it’s march 15th and I didnt hear anything…these scholarships need to prioritize lol
