<p>Yes! We are. And my recommender had issues with the Lowe’s recommendation! Poor guy, i’ve asked him for sooo many recommendations. He was going to use my Coke one (which obviously worked!) Apparently, they are only used if you’re a finalist for Lowe’s though. I didn’t even know there were levels. I wish these places would be more transparent!</p>

<p>Never heard of the Lowe’s scholarship before. Know it is too late now, but what is it based on? Essay? Leadership?</p>

<p>I think it’s mostly based on community service and leadership, since the only essay question asked about our contribution to helping build our communities.</p>

<p>The Lowe’s website says only that notifications will occur in March, not that they will occur by March 15 as one poster suggested, so there is no reason to worry yet.</p>

<p>I am also curious to know when notifications are made, however, since the only way we learn that my D isn’t getting a scholarship sometimes is by the fact that she didn’t receive a letter but others did. I wish all applicants for each scholarship would be notified one way or the other.</p>

<p>I googled “lowe’s scholarship finalists 2011” and this list came up. I am not sure if it is accurate. Hope your names are on it!</p>

<p>No notifications in March…</p>

<p>A selection committee with no connection to Lowe’s will evaluate the applications and select the semi-finalists. The
use of this independent committee is designed to ensure the impartiality and confidentiality of the selection process.</p>

<p>All semifinalists will be notified of the results in May.</p>

<p>• Semi-finalists will be required to submit a high school transcript. The committee will consider the semi-finalists’:
o Academic achievements and records
o Essay content
o Community involvement, leadership experience and work experience
o Letter(s) of recommendation</p>

<p>There must be semifinalist notifications before finalist notifications because semifinalists must submit transcripts before they can move on to finalist status.</p>

<p>According to previous posts on CC, in 2009 semifinalists were notified by email April 1. In 2010, semifinalists were notified by email March 12. Those who did not move on in the competition were also notified in 2010.</p>
