Lowest Admit Rate in Columbia's History (6.9%)

yeah please don’t pay attention to that. first of all there is no way to predict 2 days what the enrollment rate would be.

it is cool that ben cotton wanted to write a fun april fool’s joke, but it is nowhere near real.

Ben Cotton has so much authority when it comes to Housing (which is well-deserved, given how spot-on and thorough his analyses are) that the last two April Fool’s jokes he wrote about Housing have been uncritically believed (and this is at Columbia—where NOTHING is uncritically accepted!) In 2010, he wrote that lottery numbers were not final and were being reassigned; after the lottery numbers were assigned this year, people were questioning whether they were really final, still believing a year-old joke. Now he has this fake post (complete with planted comments) and most of the school has fallen for it. Even Bwog comments are full of people asking about it!

Exactly what caused such selective admission cycle? And will the Admition Rate increase at all for the class starting in September 2012?

Every year the admittance rate to the ivies is decreasing. This year was Columbia’s first year on the common app and hence such a large increase in applications. It is doubtful that the acceptance rate will see a large increase in the future.

All of a sudden my hope is slowly dropping…

Keep the faith! You may be one of the chosen ones! Good luck in the future and do not get so enamored of just one school that you will be disappointed if you do not get in.

Hey check out this blog about this girl trying to get into an ivy league school… this is her journey over the next two years… follow her and you can do much of the same she is doing and get into an ivy as well…

Thanks @CarpeDiemAlways! I guess there really is no loss in trying my hardest. At least I can say that I tried :P
