Loyola (chicago) vs. Creighton (Omaha)

Hello,

For the time being I am planning on pursuing a career in medicine, but am not 100% sure i want to be a doctor. I really enjoy economics, and would like to double major or at least minor in it, should i choose to go premed/bio. Any advice between choosing Loyola or Creighton for Bio/Econ? Anyone been through or is currently going through either program that has some advice? Thanks alot

I'm a senior this year and planning to be premed at Creighton. I'm choosing to go to Creighton solely because of their good premed. I don't know about their econ though. I think Loyola has pretty good premed also but I didn't apply there.
hope that helps a little.

Thanks Pcc, any other input from students from either program would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Chicago, and I can tell you Loyola is fairly well known here for pre-meds. Obviously, it's not Northwestern or the U of C, but most people I've met recognize it for their med school. I've driven past their campus quite a few times, which is stretched along Lake Michigan, and I always think it must be nice to be so closed to downtown Chicago. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they also have an Early Assurance program into their med school for Loyola undergrads.

I don't think Loyola's particularly known for economics, but overall it would be a great place to be a college student.

Can't comment on econ, but don't choose based on how good their "pre-med" is. It's been said a million times on this board: go where you'll be happy and do well.

Both of those college will provide (probably) equal preparation for pre-med, so that shouldn't really be a major part of your decision. I know that helps pretty much not-at-all, but really, as far as your chances of getting into medical school go, both schools would be the same.

Right, thats why i never ask which is a better pre med, instead i am asking about their econ programs, and overall student happiness or advice from current students from either school.
