Loyola Maryland vs Scranton

These are daughter’s top 2 choices, and she got accepted to both with comparable merit scholarships. She’s leaning more towards one than the other, but I was curious if anyone had any feedback. I know they are both strong academically. She is undecided in major, but interested in possibly Communications, though she really does not know. What is campus life like at both?

My son is a senior at Scranton and I have friends who have graduates from Loyola. Both are challenging schools. Both are somewhat overall preppy although maybe I found Loyola when I visited a little more. Both in so so areas although Loyola has a one side that is more upscale. Loyola has nicer dorms although Scranton upperclassman dorms are very nice. Scranton is Jesuit, not sure about Loyola. I thought Loyola was a nicer campus asthetically.

Son loving his Scranton experience in the Kania Business School and friends mostly from PA, NJ and Long Island. Seems like Scranton very welcoming. Socially I would classify Loyola more of a bar school and Scranton more of a house party school. My son has been in off-campus housing as Junior and Senior. Rent is much more reasonable than off campus housing in Baltimore area.

Thanks for the feedback. Both are Jesuit and seem very strong academically. Personally I am having a hard time deciding between the two, though I do think Loyola is a prettier campus. Daughter leaning a little towards one over the other, just want to make sure she is making the right decision for herself. She is not a drinker/partier, so trying to find out if both have social activities outside of that. I keep hearing the preppy thing and am wondering how clicky they are.
