I recently talked to a relative who suggested I look into this program.
He said if I served for four years in the military (as an officer, using the skills I developed in school - science, for me), up to $65000 of my student debt would be paid.
It looks like all federal loans are covered, including PLUS and Stafford.

Has anyone had experience with this program?

[Student Loan Forgiveness](http://www.money-zine.com/Financial-Planning/College-Loan/Student-Loan-Forgiveness/)

more info on other loan forgiveness. The amount of the loan paid (forgiven) during the year is considered taxable income to you.

Also I read on another site that you have to be in the Navy for a year for this to kick in (you also have to have a degree in something they want, many sciences are probably sought after) so you have to each get forbearance for the year or repay while waiting for eligibility to kick in
