LSA: Computer Science?

This may sound stupid, but I looked at the application for the Class of 2005 and something confused me a little bit. It listed Computer Science under both the College of Engineering and the College of Literature, Sciences, and Arts. Is that a mistake - I thought that CompSci was strictly a part of the COE. Would this mean that it'd be possible for me to apply to either LSA or College of Engineering for Computer Science?

Yes, computer science can be either Engineering or LS&A.
For information on the differences, I found this page: http://www.eecs.umich.edu/eecs/undergraduate/cs_lsa_vs_engr.html

In essence, LS&A is 120 credits and you must do the LS&A requirements (writing classes, foreign language, race and ethnicity, etc.) or Engineering's 128 credits and Engineering requirements (Chem 125/126/130, Physics 140/141/240/241, Engr 100/101, Math 115/116/215/216, etc.). LS&A graduates get a Bachelor of Science degree and Engineering graduates get a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.

Matthew, isn't Michigan building a state-of-the art building solely dedicated to Computer Science and Computer Engineering in North Campus? Will this make the CS department fully part of the COE?

They are constructing a brand new Computer Science and Engineering Building on North Campus (see it live here: http://www.engin.umich.edu/admin/rpm/facilities/construction/CSEProjects/webcam.html) which is right next to the GG Brown and Dow buildings. If memory serves me the building will be open for Winter 2007 term (less than 7 months away).

As to whether this would make the CS department part of the COE, I have no idea. If it were up to me, I'd think just because a building is on North Campus doesn't means that LS&A students shouldn't be able to major in it.

Wow...it looks impressive. And with the facility Michigan is building for Biomedical Engineering, each of Michigan's Engineering programs is going to have its own building!
