LSA Honors Discussion

Congrats! I haven’t received anything yet!

Got mine an hour ago! In! Congrats to all that have gotten in!

Got in!!

Robbo… what were your stats?

3.95 unweighted, 4.2 weighted, 32 ACT, 2190 SAT, wrote on words bounce, it was Dr. Suessesq.

Ahh…I was rejected 31 ACT 4.0 UW GPA. Wrote on wasted time. I think I was rejected because my Common application has my Ross Preadmit. Perhaps they do not want to admit me because I’m not truly interested in LSA, so they will save my spot for someone else. Oh well.

Accepted! Stats: 33 ACT, 4.00 UW, 4.46 W, economic equality/entrepreneurialism prompt

Accepted
ACT 34
SAT 2280
4.00 UW, 4.55 W

Accepted
ACT 33
3.95 UW, school does not calculate weighted GPA

I wrote about the “words bouncing” one. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!

Deferred
31 ACT, 3.89 UW GPA
I kind of contradicted my supplemental essay #1 (wrote about wasted time) and I applied pre admit to pharmacy. I started the essay the day before it was due and didn’t have that much time to fix things. I’m actually surprised I didn’t get rejected (low stats + probably not staying in LSA).

Accepted
35 ACT, 3.97 UW, 4.23 W.
Wrote about wasted time.

Congratulations everyone! Now just to wait for scholarships…

@leonarda: I’m probably not very informed, but when are we supposed to hear from those / when do we get our aid packages? I submitted my FAFSA and CSS a while ago.

@enigmaticescape The website says they start sending out award notifications in March, but they come out on a rolling basis depending on how early/late you applied. Just start checking Wolverine Access periodically throughout March/April to see if you’ve been given some of that sweet free cash!

@leonarda: Thank you, that was very informative!

Did anyone else do the prompt on zero?

@Juniperus: I did. What perspective did you take?

@Enigmaticescape - I went a sort of literary-philosophical route, talked about asian and jewish philosophy in conjunction with a short story I felt fit the idea. Yourself? It was amazingly fun to write.

@Juniperus: Nice! I always enjoy the philosophical route over the logical/scientific one. I talked about how ubiquitous (and almost paradoxical) zero was.I ended with one of my favorite sentiments about zero from a… manga, but hey, it worked, and I was pretty satisfied with the result!

Haha, like Zero from Code Geass or Vampire Knight? I also talked about the paradox of zero, which is uber cool.
Anyways, hopefully choosing a less popular prompt helps me/you stand out or something. - @Enigmaticescape

@Juniperus: Oh, I got in the first round for honors! Best of luck to you, when did you apply? And the zero quote from Detective Conan (Cased Closed), when the main character is basically confessing his love to his love interest; here’s the quote:

“Zero is where everything starts! Nothing would ever be born if we didn’t depart from there! Nothing would ever be achieved!”

Inspirational, isn’t it?
