LSAT Prep Schedule Question

Hey guys,

So I’m trying to create a schedule for my LSAT prep. I’m going to be taking the October test and I’m starting my prep by June 1st. I wont be having a job this summer, so I will be prepping the 5-6 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, for the entire summer. My diagnostic score was a 162. My GPA is very low (~3.2…. it’s that low primarily because my parents had me graduate college in 3 years because they said they couldn’t afford to pay for the 4th year), so I’m shooting for a 173+ to offset that. There are 2 possible options I’m looking into for my prep and I was hoping that I could get some advice from you guys.

Option 1: Take a TM course that starts on June 24th. I would go over the PS Bibles thoroughly before the course starts. If I were to go with this option, I would fully utilize all the prep materials that the course offers, and would go through every test that’s been administered. Additionally, I would also utilize the LRB/LGB, NOVA for the RC section, Superprep, and the 2004 LSATs Deconstructed. I would also consider adding a 10-hour private tutoring package to the course.

Option 2: Do self-studying supplemented with a 25-30 hour private tutoring package from PS/TM. For my self-studying, I would use the following materials: the full set of books used in the PS full-length course, LRB and LGB, NOVA for the RC section, Superprep, 2004 LSATs Deconstructed, and every previously administered test. If I were to go with this option, are there any other prep materials that would be beneficial? Also, in what order should I do the materials? In other words, should I start with the bibles or the PS books? How should I mix the prep tests into the schedule? Should I save most of them for after I’m finished with all the materials?

So, basically the main difference between the 2 options is that one of them involves taking a TM course and the other would substitute the course with 25-30 hours worth of tutoring plus the full set of books used in the PS full-length course. My main question is this: If money were not an issue (money is definitely an issue for my family, but my grandparents have generously offered to pay for any prep-related costs), which option do you think would be best? I’ve heard that with a diagnostic of 162, I may benefit more from private tutoring, than being in a class with students who may be scoring significantly lower. Am I mistaken? I’m pretty disciplined, and I have no problem keeping up with a strict schedule, so I’m not worried about a lack of motivation if I go with the self-study route. Like I said earlier, I’m trying to increase my score up to at least 173, so I was really hoping that you guys could help me decide which option would be best for my situation.

Thank you so so much for any help/advice!
