<p>I'm trying to weigh my options on which school I should go to.</p>
<p>I can either study for an Masters in Politics and Communication at the London School of Economics......</p>
<p>Or get a Masters in Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University.</p>
<p>My career goal is to work in the United States in political communication, strategy, consulting, and related fields.</p>
<p>LSE is attractive to me because of it's reputation, however, studying in London for this kind of degree is a bit counterintuitive to me. I'm not planning to study international relations or go into a career in foreign policy, so wouldn't studying in Washington D.C. make more sense? Especially if I'm looking at a career closely tied to U.S. politics? On the other hand, I've been to D.C. many, many, MANY times, and London would be a unique experience that would provide me with new perspectives. It would also give me international experience that would stand out on a resume and could be beneficial later in my career should my job inch anywhere close to foreign policy topics. (Like if I began working or consulting for an organization that has strong policy interests abroad.)</p>
<p>GWU obviously has strong connections to the U.S. political scene and much of its curriculum would be drawn from U.S. politics. LSE's curriculum is not UK specific, but is actually much more globally oriented. But that doesn't mean I won't be able to apply what I learn to an eventual U.S. career.</p>
<p>LSE's reputation is also supposedly far above and beyond GWU's, but I've honestly heard things all over the place in this regard. Is LSE's reputation limited to just Economics and International relations, or are degrees like the one I'm interested in just as respected?</p>
<p>LSE would also be significantly less expensive than GWU (think of tens of thousands of dollars). It would be nice to graduate with less debt........</p>
<p>Additionally, I would get my degree in 1 year at LSE, as opposed to 2 at GWU.</p>
