LSM

I have a few questions about the program that I can’t seem to find online.

  1. About how many people apply and what is the acceptance rate?
  2. Is the course load too much to handle for most students? If possibly aspiring to go to med school, will your gpa likely be low?
  3. Does it seem as though all admitted students have a shared characteristic/extracurricular activity?
  4. For admitted students: For the program specific essay, did you make your essays to the point, answering exactly what is asked in the question? It says to be as specific and original but I’m not really thinking if people really can come up with unique perspectives. Without telling me what you said, do you think your essay was truly unique or standard?

If you are able to answer any of these questions, I would love to know. Also, if anyone in the LSM program has the time to talk about their perspective of the program, I would be very thankful!

I am not in the LSM program but i have many friends who are. The program is very hard to get into, even more selective than harvard or stanford, although obviously is it way more self-selective. the average sat scores of those accepted into the program is around 2310. So comparing it with the 2200 average at Penn or the 2228 average at Harvard (class of 2018 both) you see how selective LSM is. In my experience LSM kids are ridiculously smart and driven and seem to be even more impressive than M&T kids. The program is very small, only 25 students admitted each year, and the workload is not for the fainthearted–a few people end up dropping out of it each year because they cant take the workload.
