I applied early to LSM at UPenn but got deferred. I’m curious if anyone here got accepted? I knew going in how competitive it is, only 25 students selected each year and all, and that the odds of getting accepted were as low or lower that getting into HYPSM… but I was hopeful. Anybody else deferred? Anybody accepted? What were your stats?
Hey @Pepperoncini18 – I’ve also read that LSM only takes 25 students per class, which is crazy selective, so I’m not sure there’s that many people who actually got in that can reply to your comment.
That said, you seem pretty qualified (although you haven’t listed your ECs, but your scores are great), so I’m sure you’ll have other options in RD round, maybe even LSM. I wouldn’t feel bad about not getting in. Getting deferred from such a selective program is an achievement in itself! Best of luck!
my older sister’s at penn and she says the program is suuuuper hard to get into, like a lot of penn’s dual degree programs that take <50 people and get really qualified applicants. She said the resources the LSM kids have access to (like industry giants and famous alums) is ppretty amazing. Don’t stress dude, maybe you’ll get it RD!
@aligatordude@policychamp thank you so much for the encouraging posts. I’ll keep hoping for the best, but I recognize what you said that LSM would be a long shot for any applicant so I’m trying to stay realistic. And yeah I’m waiting for other options too in the regular round including HYP, UChicago and Stanford and a couple others, but UPenn LSM is my dream choice so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!
@nvb123 did you get in? I saw an old post that you were thinking of applying to UPenn LSM ED too.
@nvb123 congrats on your acceptance to Stanford! That’s awesome!! I just got a likely letter yesterday from Yale so I’m really happy about that! But I’m still waiting for UPenn LSM, it’s my first choice, but I’m trying to not have too high expectations because I know it’s really hard to get in. I’ll post here when I hear back in March, and I hope you get good news too!
I was wondering how the LSM final decision went for you, as I am interested in the program. When you applied early, did you also indicate either Wharton or CAS as a secondary choice and do these choices as ED (or RD) or did you only do LSM ED with no other choices?
