lvl 5 SAT writing question HELP!

<p>the answer is "seeing"</p>

<p>is it because the gerund seeing does not indicate who is doing the action -- it could be Dan or Quincy. Also, it needs to be parallel with "would pass" --> he would see</p>

<p>can someone correct me if I am wrong :)</p>

<p>I’m not sure but it might be because the way it’s originally written, the “years” are the ones who are “seeing Derek again.” I can’t really explain why, but I think that’s what it’s saying.</p>
