theres a kid at my school who basically told me he is planning on lying and saying he visited some colleges to show the colleges that he is really interested in the school.

dont most schools have some sign-up things when you visit so they could probably verify this right

they could verify this, because every time you formally visit the school, you are in their records. It is a very bad idea and wouldn't help college admissions

hm, i dont know about any 'visitor records'. i toured a school by just showing up for the tour, i dont think i ever gave my name or anything. but yeah, do NOT lie about visiting. It's an integrity thing. some people just dont have the means to tour every college around the country. schools know this.

Emory, I know for a fact, does this. You fill out a card that goes into your admissions file when you get there.
You have to register and check in for a UNC-CH tour.

The schools that care about visits will keep track of it. Thus, if your friend lies about it the schools will know that. The schools that don't track it don't care about it so it won't matter what he says.
