Hey everyone! I am an international post graduate student from India.
I've been admitted for the M.A International Affairs program at George Washington's Elliot School Of International Affairs. Is there any one else here who's planning/is going to this school? Anyone applying for a similar program? Need unbiased and honest feedback on the program, job prospects after graduation & the employment opportunities of international grad students in the U.S in the field of international relations. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

hey! ima international student as well. i applied for the environmental international relation thing in the Elliots. but uh how do u know which school you got in? cuz on my portal it just says “congrats u got in gwu”

Hey! I got a full admission letter in my GWU login. Also a letter from the Director of the M.A Program. The M.A International Affairs program is offered by Elliot School. :). Sadly no fellowship/aid.

waait. so you mean when you logged into GWU portal, it indicated which school you got in? Im international student so I dont receive letters physically. Do you think I should email them?

yep send them a mail asap. I didn’t get any physical letters coz I am an international student as well. good luck! :)

What job do you want?

An MA in IAFF isn’t nearly as in-demand as, say, law or engineering. Or, even economics. Your job prospects are limited… to something along the lines of government work, teaching IAFF, embassy work, NGOs, or some sort of humanitarian aide work. Assuming you want/need to use your degree for your desired job…

Plenty of people have MAs in IAFF and the like. Plenty of competition to get even entry-level government, embassy, World Bank, etc. jobs. Just an MA might not stand out-- some combination of an MA and relevant job experience would be better.

If you get a good scholarship that covers most of it, great. Go for the MA in IAFF.

I wouldn’t pay cash for an MA in IAFF if I planned to work a government job that starts out not making very much money. Personally, unless offered a full scholarship, I would get an MA and JD, or get an MA in economics, engineering, or some high-demand high-paying job. IAFF doesn’t really pay well starting out.

What do you want to do in your career?
