M. Ed. versus MA in Teaching?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a senior at Northwestern University getting a degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences. I've worked in a lab and have taught/mentored a few music groups on campus. I realized this year that my passion is teaching, but it's too late to get another major or something like that. I've been looking into my options after I graduate, and a masters degree in an education field piques my interest, but I don't know which one would benefit me more? Any suggestions/comments? Thanks for your help!

As long as they have the requirements for licensure to teach your subject in your state, it doesn’t matter which one you get. M.Ed programs are often longer and require more credits (e.g. 60ish instead of 30ish). However, check by state because some states may have credit hour requirements for what they consider a master’s program for the purpose of the salary bump.
