Hello everyone,
I just graduated and I am now looking for masters in the US (I am from Spain).
The thing is, I am industry focused (I dont want to go for the Phd) but I have seen that mostly all masters are M.Sc and just a few are M.Eng.
The question is, do you guys thing an M.Sc will be fine even if what I want is working on the industry, and not do the Phd? Or the MS.c is REALLY focused on the Phd?
If the M.Sc is as suitable for industry would be fine since I have more universities to choose.
My major is electronics, just so you know.
Thanks in advance.
Yes, should be fine. Whether they call it an M.S. or an M. Eng. is less important than the curriculum and program goals. You have to dig into each school’s program to find out, but my sense is most MS programs in engineering are geared toward industry.
For example, Stanford’s Masters program in mechanical engineering page (which awards an MS) says “the Masters program is typically for students who want to enter industry as practicing professionals”. So just because it says MS does not mean it’s geared to Ph.D. candidates.
Thank you very much!
Another little question related to it. Have you ever heard that M.Eng programs require profesional experience prior the enrollment?
Some might but I suspect it is not universal.
