Haha Izzy you’re really enthusiast and warm! I love MX, too! I’ll apply!

of course you will. or else. i know where you live. think about that. O.o

^wow, that was creepy. (It’s not true, i don’t actually know where you live)

anyway, I like to be spirited. some would argue that i am hyper and crazy rather than spirited. don’t listen to them.

ANYway, please do apply! the more the merrier!

well hey, hyper and crazy are my middle name! its a sign…lol

bump

i need to know whether i should take physics 10 (non-honors) or physics 11 (honors)

i’m a decent chem student Bs and a good Algebra II student B+s

if you want to take physics 11 honors and your not sure whether you should take honors 11 or non honors, middlesex may be able to give you a work booklet to work on over the summer. you should ask the head of academics on what you should do they will give you great advise. BTW chemistry has nothing really to do with physics and your math is a little low because physics is essentially almost the same as another math class. But do talk to the head of academics. I am taking ap biology next year and i didnt take pre-ap i only took regular so my school is giving me a workbooklet for me to do this summer

Hcos - I believe you take non leveled physics for the first half of the year and then you separate (believe you need a 90avg) into honors and non honors…and believe me and 90 mx avg is pretty hard

Hi guys, my son is going to MX for 9th grade, we just received the course package. A couple of questions:

Is a freshman allowed to take 7 courses? If not, what about later years?

Is taking the jazz orchestra music class the only way to be in a band? It seems that you have to give up a regular class if you want to be in a band.

I will have other questions later after going through more of the materials.

Thanks!

aiight

thanks i know a 90 is tough i was more expecting in the B range. so ill just go with normal and see how i do

also is this a good course selection

Chinese III or II (not sure if i have to repeat as my schools chinese curriculum is kinda weird)
Math 7
English AP english
History AP US
Art: advanced projects in theater
Science: Physics 10 or 11

jia you hcos!!! ni de zhong wen zen me yang?

Hey there Middlesex students,

I want to ask if students are allowed to participate in a sports team AND do a theater production at the same time.

Also, I’ve been hearing that the overall vibe at Middlesex is very artsy. I could sense some artiness from the website and viewbook, but is that true? BTW I LOVE the arts.

hahaha

wo de zhongwen bu cuo.

Okay I’ll try attempting these questions…

Allnew:
Most freshmen take 5 classes as a they come in (I have never actually met one that did more)…And no, I don’t believe you have to be in that class to be a part of a band. If you have any questions about band related stuff, email Mr. Mark Kross at mkross@mxschool.edu. Also, Yes you are allowed to take more than 5 courses as you get older. However, you need approval of your advisor and the dean of academic affairs.

Hcos:

ask mr. riz for help with your schedule, he’ll help (see if you can get him for your advisor too maybe?)…Just don’t overload yourself. Honors Physics and AP US could be a challenge if you do them both together, and they’re gonna be harder bc your still adjusting to the school and middlesex’s writing program.

assign:

Middlesex is what you make it to be - what clubs you get into, etc. I personally believe there is more emphasis on athletics than arts. Yes, students can do both athletics and the play at the same time. However, you sacrifice your study hours if you plan to get in to the play. If you’re really into the arts, and you are attending middlesex, there is ample opportunities for you to get involved in whatever way you like.

Hey, I’m going to Middlesex as a sophomore next year… what arts do you think I should take? I only have to take two, but I don’t know which ones are best.

What types of art are you in to?

I believe all students are required to take art history (check the curriculum guide) and then you have a choice of music, drama, and drawing. Personally I took music, but it really wasn’t the class for me. I’ve heard the best class/most fun class is by far drama.

yeah ill ask Riz about my schedule and also what about clubs should i do

is doing MUN and tour guide a bit too ambitious ?

thanks

for clubs wait till you get to school…but almost everyone signs up to be a tour guide, its fun and not the biggest committment

MUN is with “doc” (you’ll find out his personality when you get here lol) …that one is a bit more demanding, with weekly research, papers, etc…

there are a bunch of clubs and you don’t really have to “sign up” for them and there’s a fair at the beginning of the year as well

thanks bro

the only thing that i am not looking forward to is that everyone from MX on CC will know you i am oh well lives goes on…

dude don’t worry - nobody at mx ever uses cc…except me and legit like 2 other ppl…

Hcos ni de zhong wen zhen de hen hao! Ni ren shi han zi ma?

Thanks, AW6.

I just spoke to Mrs. McNall about the course selection. Other than don’t want freshmen to take more than 6 courses, they seems pretty flexible, in terms of courses adjustments according to students’ level, recognition of off-campus studies. I like it.
