M&T Internal Transfer from Wharton

Hello! Need some advice from former/current M&T students:)

I applied to the M&T Program and got into Wharton (my single-school choice). The website says that they take a number of transfer students at the end of freshman year and I plan to give it a try. From what I observed, most of the transfer students are from Engineering. Only one or two per year are from Wharton.
Is GPA the only factor the admission staff look during the application process? (Is it true that 3.9+ can guarantee a spot?) Would the course load and rigor matter a lot? Would they look at the extracurricular activities (eg. Penn Apps)? Would applying from Wharton hurt my chance (though I think it’s unlikely but still curious since most accepted kids are from SEAS)
I plan to take mostly quantitative business courses(STAT 430, 431, FNCE 100, BEPP 250, OIDD etc) and CIS 120, 121, 160, 240 in the first year. I have placed out Physics 150/151, MATH 104 with AP, planning to place out 114 and 240 with the placment tests. Planning to concentrate in Entrepreneurship & Management, Behavioral Econ, major in CIS at SEAS.
Any additional advice would also be appreciated!!

If you can test out of math114 (multi-variable calc), that would be great. D was able to test out of it.

Math 240 will require a very good understanding of Linear Algebra and Differential Equations to test out of it. I don’t think many students are successful at that, but I admire your moxie.

Regarding courses, I suggest that you not bite off more than you can chew here freshman year. CIS 121, and CIS160 are extremely difficult and time consuming for many students. I would investigate thoroughly. Some credits are much more difficult than others. Honestly, if you could get good grades in just CIS120 and CIS 121, I would be impressed. I would think about whether it is wise to overload yourself.

I don’t think applying from Wharton hurts your chance. I think that fewer Wharton students are admitted to M & T because some of them are not prepared for SEAS coursework, and that does not seem to be the case with you.

@Much2learn Yeah, Math 240 & CIS 160 would be pretty hard. I’m probably moving Math 240 to the second year. Thanks a lot:)
