Hi everyone! I couldn’t find a thread for M&TSI 2018 yet, so I decided to make one!
How do you all think you did on your applications?
Oof, why is there no one talking about this program? This is on the top of my list. I thought my essay was horrible… I talked about Elon Musk and related him to my engineering experiences. (Basically just wrote an essay saying how great Elon is because I love him too much…) but I honestly couldn’t think of anything else to write about. I really really hope I get in…
I know! Looking at threads from past years, I definitely expected at least a couple of other people… I wrote my essay about running my company, but transitioned to tying things back to reasons for why I’d love to attend the program.

@johndoetx good luck to you too!!! Your essay sounds really nice. I sent an email to ask how many people applied and they answered 663 people applied and they’re taking 75.
does anyone know when decisions come out?
@jazzman22 the same email reply I received that said there were 663 applicants said that decisions come out April 9th, and judging from past years I’m assuming it’ll be on the late side.
I’m a sophomore and decided to apply for M&TSI this year. Wrote my essay about my research in finance and algorithmic trading, however I have not taken the SAT or ACT yet so I had to submit my low PSAT Grade. Hoping I can get in still
I have just been accepted into LBW but I am hoping that I get into M&TSI as M&T is a dream program for me. Unfortunately the RSVP date for LBW is earlier than 4/9 so I’m planning on asking m&tsi if they can expedite my application process to let me know earlier… but judging from past years all students with similar situations as me (into LBW and have to expedite) got rejected. So, not hopeful…
@yaoqian I’m in the same spot right now… do you think getting accepted to LBW automatically results in a rejection from M&TSI or only asking to expedite the process for the M&TSI decisions causes the rejection… I desperately need to get into M&TSI
@rocky2308 I honestly don’t know… But I don’t want to just give up LBW and wait for m&tsi since I don’t think my chances of getting in are high enough for me to do that. :((
@rocky2308 just received their email reply, they’re not giving out early decisions since it comes out next week. Guess we’ll have to see what happens…

@yaoqian I’ve decided I’m just going to accept LBW. It’s not worth the risk as I could end up with neither program if I wait. Also, m&tsi seems like a lot more stressful.
M&T is my dream program; would give an arm/leg to get into…! I wrote about the same thing as @johndoetx , running my own business + leadership + tying it back into MTSI. Good luck to everyone!
