MA/MS TESOL - Viable Candidate?

Hi all,

I'm applying for MA/MS TESOL programs with initial NY State teaching certification for the Fall 2013 semester. I'm applying to all state schools:

SUNY Albany
CUNY Hunter
CUNY Queens

I know you guys must get a lot of questions like this, but I'm just wondering what my chances are for admission.

I have a BA in Writing, Literature & Publishing (2008). Unfortunately, I didn't do so great in my classes and came out of it with a 3.07 GPA. I'm pretty worried about my GPA, as it just scrapes by the minimum for admission. Over the past year, I've taken undergraduate French, Spanish, and linguistics courses (four courses total) and I've gotten straight As.

In my job, I contract and manage freelance translators, so I work with non-native English speakers and other languages daily. I've been doing this job for about 3 years. I frequently have to clarify context and idioms, and I'm going to highlight this on my personal statement. Over the summer, I also took a 16 hour ESL teaching workshop at a local volunteer organization. I have quite a bit of study abroad/travel experience (Holland, German, Czech Republic, France, and Great Britain), but I doubt that will do much for me.

I'm planning on applying anyway, but how do my chances look?

Thanks in advance!
