To any current Wharton students- have any mac users had any problems with software

Yeah, I have been wondering this as well.

good question, i was wondering about this too. and not only for wharton students; what’s the situation for ALL Penn students? what’s better?

Linux is actually a perfect fit.

Just get a PC w/ an Intel processor and set up a dual boot of Windows/Mac!

I’m a student in the College and all we really need is MS Office…lol

Unless you’re taking a class that involves using different programming software, you probably won’t face trouble with compatibility. In terms of Wharton, I know people who have Macs and people who have PCs. In general, I think it’s more of a matter of taste. If you are worried, you can just bootcamp windows on your Mac.

I’ll be in SEAS and I’m getting a Mac and just running parallels or dual-booting. They have free software to dual boot. I prefer Mac OS to Windows 7/Vista/XP for daily use, but just want to have Windows in case of, as you mentioned, software incompatibility.

Yeah, I have decided to do what daretorun is doing. Its the best of both worlds, I am going to get the new Macbook Pro, probably the 500gb hard drive, and then split that in half and run windows 7 and os x, a home edition of windows 7 only costs 100 bucks, and microsoft office also only costs 100 bucks (from apple).

** TheWikiMan **, are you getting a 15" or 13"? I like the 13"'s portability (big plus, because I’m always on the move and am kind of little (I’m a girl) so I don’t want to be toting around a huge bag), but it really doesn’t deliver the same punch as the 15" (quad-core and designated video card).

I don’t play PC games or anything, but I’m just paranoid that I’ll suddenly take on some crazy multi-tasking, video processing job and be kicking myself.

I am probably going to get the 15", might take a little nagging with my parents though haha. I want the bigger screen, and the extra hardware umphh will help. Do I really need the extra power? Probably not, but I’ll just feel better knowing its there, for those occasions like you mentioned. And haha, I don’t think there is too much of a weight difference between the two, and the thickness is the same I think. Its really more a question of price, and power.
