MAC or PC? ATT, Verizon or T-Mobile?

I am an incoming freshman and need an advice regarding new gadgets. I want to buy a MAC and wonder if I will be ok with Mac laptop on Davidson campus? Also I am about to buy a new cell phone and wonder what cell service provider is better/more common on campus - ATT, Verizon or T-Mobile?

You will be fine with either a Mac laptop or a PC laptop.

I know Verizon has very good reception in and around Davidson–assume the other carriers do too since it is a pretty built-up area. Almost certainly ATT is good or students with iPhones would be annoyed.

For computers, it’s a matter of personal preference entirely. I had a Mac…my roommate had a PC. The only thing about having a Mac is you need to make sure it’s running Leopard and not Tiger. I couldn’t connect to wireless, having Tiger. With a PC, you have to install the campus anti-virus software, which will be made available to you when you get there. PCs are far more susceptible to viruses and spyware than Macs.

Verizon is probably the best in terms of reception. Small regional providers are not good. My friend has either Sprint or T-mobile and he does not get very good reception at all. The kids with iPhones using AT&T generally get decent reception, but often their texts take a while to send/receive. I have a Voyager and I use Verizon. It’s great!
