Two quick tech questions about WM:

I have heard that AT&T phone service gets terrible reception on campus. Which
providers get good reception?

From the computer store on campus, I got the impression that WM is a MAC campus but I hear the store is new. I am trying to convince my DS that being able to walk into an on campus store if you have a computer problem is a big advantage. However, he is a PC guy. Is there a good computer service store off campus? Or another service on campus for PC's that I do not know about?

Thank you in advance for helping with these two questions!

I had great service when I went to visit campus and I have Verizon!

-S has Verizon for cell phone service. He never had any issues on campus. We have heard about AT&T issues also.

-S was a PC guy all through out HS and received a Mac for graduation. It was a easy transition. He never has had to use the Apple store on campus for tech issues. As reported,
Apple is very reliable.
I think laptops are a matter of personal preference on campus rather than W&M being a mac campus. S has friends who have both.

@momneedsguidance - I actually had my husband call the store…the store sells MAC’s and PC’s but we got the impression that they only service MAC’s. I think the guy he talked to even said if you had a PC - you had to talk to the IT department. And, if you look at the computer store - it definitely leans MAC! All that said, I think my son will end up with a PC.

Thanks for the heads up that Verizon works well on campus!

A Sprint user that I know says she always gets service on campus, whereas she hears people from other providers complain about not being able to.

Cal1983 - oh, good to know. I was just going by the website that says they sell/service both. But I agree about the store being more about the Mac. I have called them too and they were very helpful…of course, we are buying a Mac

I’m also glad my daughter already has Verizon!
