for computer science major?

and why?

You’re a computer science major and you can’t decide this for yourself?

Either is fine, you can install Windows on a mac and can install Mac OSX on a Windows based machine.

All it comes down to is what your price range is.

well…good point lol but i heard pc is better for programming but i want a mac
cuz its cooler. idk…i mite get a pc just to be safe but idk

Getting a mac because its cooler…
As a computer guy, you should be interested in the specs of the computer, not its aesthetics.
You can get a fully spec’ed windows laptop for way less than the pretty mac, and there’re some pretty wondows laptops too. Try the new dell adamo or even a sony vaio.

To me, and to most people, Macs are too linear. Also, there is truth to the fact that Window’s laptops are much, much, MUCH cheaper with much better spec’s as well.

have you ever heard of alienware? now those computers are both pretty and packed w power =) you should check it out ESPECIALLY if you like gaming

Macs are more stable. You pay for stability and less problems.

I am someone with a PC , well my PC is finally falling apart, i have an old Dell INspiron 800 and for next semester i do plan on getting a MAC.

I cant handle the instability and viruses and blue screen of death. Even though, this only started happening years after i had the PC non the less it inevitably happens. No matter how good the anti virus etc, your PC is bound to have issues. at least in my experience.

Alienware is now owned by Dell, so they’re not the gaming powerhouse they once used to be. Just an overpriced rebranded Dell XPS.

"Malishka31 Macs are more stable. You pay for stability and less problems. "

You OVER pay for stability and less problems sure…but if you’re a responsible surfer, viruses wouldn’t really be a problem. I have no anti virus software running on my laptop and its snappy and works great for a long time now. I simply use windows defender and routinely run a virus scan for my usb key. No issues at all.

Just do not randomly download and open suspicious emails etc…

Also there are a lot of programs not supported by macs. You’d still have to end up installing windows on your pretty mac to get some work done or at least attempt some decent gaming.
