<p>I have a HP laptop but I was thinking about purchasing the new mac laptop. I have noticed that people with better presentations have macs. My question is: which is more compatible at GWU? a mac or a pc? And do have to show alot of presentation for classes? and do alot of kids bring their laptops to class? any info on the computer questions will be great!

<p>The network is both mac and pc friendly. Presentations are not a frequent occurance for class, but maybe your outside activities. From my experience about 1 in 5 students brings a laptop to class. It's all about how you learn and which is more convenient for note-taking. </p>
<p>Although, going to college is a good excuse to buy a new computer...</p>
<p>I think PCs are way better... I had a hard time printing stuff when I had a mac. Plus most of the computers in the computer labs are PCs.</p>
<p>Mac users will often have better presentations, because Macs are best at graphic, audio and video editing. Therefore, students with interest & experience in those areas will often migrate to Mac platform. Personally, I hate them - hate their look, hate their feel, their OS, their insistance on being weird and inaccessible, and I generally don't like the people they market to :-)</p>
<p>PCs have much more variety, are supported by far more products/networks/peripherals, and are easier to repair, cheaper to upgrade, cheaper in general, and see more product development. Go with a PC :)</p>
<p>i have no problem with my mac. i love it.. especially when resnet is down for pc users.. and works fine for me :)

<p>HP and Dell make good computers (note: back at college i'm IT manager of my university's newspaper, so I get to spend tons on nice shiny computers - so I'm not just blowing this out of my ass, when somebody invariably disagrees with me that one or the other (or both) are crappy)</p>
<p>eh, i don't like dell laptops at all..
i think they make better desktops
but HP laptops are very good.
sony is overpriced, but they make good computers.</p>
