Mac or Windows

Can anyone tell me if it matters what type of laptop/notebook I bring. When I toured the business school it was a Windows environemnt but a lot of students had MacBooks. I need to buy one so it can be either.

Thanks

You’ll be fine with either. There are more Windows PCs than Macs on campus, but there are some Mac labs and what have you, and tons of students have Macs. In terms of what programs you might need…that’s up to what you’re planning on majoring in. I don’t know about business classes, but I think some science classes require use of software that is PC-only. Take that into consideration, but I don’t think it’ll be an issue. Get what you like and what works best for you!

I hope I am not too late. If you’re a science major, get a PC. Essential softwares such as DyKnow are not compatible with the Mac OS, and certain Integrated Development Environments run best on Windows.

so a science major should by a pc and nt a mac? thanks

It is not essential to get a PC as a science major. Lots of my friends are science majors and have Macs. If you do end up needing to use those PC programs for a project or homework out of class, you can do it in one of the computer labs (where many people go to do homework anyway).
