Mac. vs. Ursinus vs. Villanova

Hello! I was wondering about how the sciences compare among Macalester, Ursinus, and Villanova. I don't know a lot about Macalester's science program (just that the college itself is usually ranked high) and I don't really know a lot about Villanova's science offerings besides its engineering program. I know Ursinus is liberal arts known for the sciences. I'd really appreciate info about their neuroscience or biology majors.

I don’t know anything about Villanova, but I was also accepted to Ursinus and spoke w. one of their professors about their neuroscience program.

I would say both schools have pretty solid undergraduate neuroscience majors, especially for liberal arts schools. I’d give Mac the edge, though. Their facilities and resources are better than Ursinus’s (posting propaganda, but here: [We’re No. 1 - News - Macalester College](We’re No. 1 - News)), it’s very easy to get in to research, and I personally really like the way the neuroscience major is structured here. It’s technically called neuroscience studies, which annoys me for some stupid reason, but it’s pretty legit. It includes a requirement to do research (I think independently w/ an advisor), and can be taken in a very traditional biology/psychology based direction if that’s what you want or towards computer science or philosophy (neuroscience is a pretty broad field as I’m sure you know). It’s a pretty substantial major, since you’re expected to have a background in all four of the areas I mentioned (along with neuro in general) as well as an emphasis in a specific area, and it’s definitely apparent that the eduction and background you’re getting from it is great. Overall from my experience with them I’d say the faculty are pretty great as well. I can’t say much about biology since I’ve never thought of it as a major, but it seems to be pretty well put together as well, and there seems to be a lot going on in that department.

Thanks for the reply.
