I’m planning on applying to Macaulay Honors College and I was wondering if your chances of getting accepted are affected by what college you put as your first choice. I hear that Hunter is the hardest one to get into through the Macaulay program, so if I put that as my first choice, would it be harder to get into Macaulay Honors as opposed to putting something that’s less selective?

Depends on your application
But I doubt that that’s true

I actually talked to a Macaulay Rep in person. She said that in 99% of the time, if you get rejected by your first choice, then it’s pretty much ‘game over’ for Macaulay consideration across the CUNY system. Thus, I’m sure people put less selective (yet not their top choice) CUNY schools as their first choice.

With that being said, the Macaulay Rep also told me that you should select the school you are most interested in for the first b/c in the MHC application also serves as a standard application too.

Okay, thank you guys. I think I’ll play it safe and go with a less selective school.
