Macbook Pro.

I need some opinions :)

I have enough money for a 13" Macbook Pro Unibody, but it's not as good in performance as the old Macbook Pro, which is also cheaper. The new one is SOOOO cool though, I just can't stop staring at it, so which one should I get?

I’m sort of biased, because I am used to the old MacBook Pro. I hate the new trackpad click thing especially. If you can go up to the next size for the same price, I think you should definitely get the old Pro.
Really, performance is more important than how cool something looks right? So you should probs get the old sort.

definitely go for looks over performance

The new 13" Macbook Pro is the same as the old Macbook. Something tells me they’ll release a new Macbook soon

Dell XPS 13. You can probably jack up the CPU to 2.8ghz, 500gb, 4gb and still beats your crapintosh.

Seriously… why would anyone use overpriced macs?

Seconded. My sortof-stepsister just bought a Mac, paid $2,500 for it and it didn’t even have half the specs of my PC that I paid $1,000 for - and that was with a ****load of upgrades added on, it was originally $700. Pay more get less?

Automatic virus protection.

Amazing graphics.

A lot longer lasting.

Automatic virus protection? I have a great virus protection system. It’s called “Common Sense 2009”
Amazing graphics? No. The graphics card used in the MBP is actually on the lower end of the scale.
Alot longer lasting? Who cares. The laptop I’m typing on right now is nearly 3 years old and it works great. The laptop I previously used still works fine, I just don’t use it. I’ll be buying a new one soon anyway, and warranties are there for a reason.

Mm… Well from my experience…

The last laptop I had spontaneously died about a week after the warranty went out. (>_<)

The graphics on the macs we use at school are far superior to those on the Dells they have at school.

And… Sure… Common Sense works… but there are viruses that you can get from say …youtube. The average person will watch at least one video on there. So you’re a lot safer using a MAC.

Plus keeping the laptop longer means less hassle… because you don’t have to move files and whatnot.

Plus… Mac can run windows.

Macs last so much longer it’s ridiculous. They don’t consistently decline from the second you first turn it on

I’ll put things into context for you.

A Macbook is like a luxury car. It looks nice, feels nice, and makes you feel superior. But whether or not you actually need it? A ridiculous price tag for over-hyped specs that aren’t really specs, but should come standard with all modern laptops.

Dells are like minivans. They can come with a lot of pretty cool specs, and their extremely versatile. Like many minivan drivers who race BMWs on the Los Angeles freeway, a PC can compete with a Macbook for a certain period of time. Of course, it’s not too reliable, and requires good maintenance.

Thinkpads are like racecars. Highly specialized, simple in design, and not for the average person (it’s capabilities would become superfluous). More like a portable workstation, it can handle high-end engineering software, graphics, games, and presentations. Customer service is your pit crew; helpful, knoweledgable, and efficient.

Seriously though. You’ll be doing what with your laptop at college? Checking email, using MS Word, sending emails, and surfing CC? Most laptops out there go way over the top. You’re essentially paying for things you don’t need.

And if you’re really going for power/price, build your own computer. You can get incredible hardware for prices far below those for laptops.

You’re already getting a mac. Just get the prettier one.

I’m gonna get the 13" Macbook Pro for school too. This stupid Compaq Pc is irking me always overheating and freezing.

Compaq isn’t exactly the best PC brand. Perhaps the inverse is true.

What do you do at school that requires quality graphics? And I would guess the Dells just have some Intel integrated graphics, which nobody that cared about graphics would actually use.

BTW, this could have been cheaper/better if it included stuff from Newegg.

Why does this even matter? Buy what you want and donate what you don’t to me.
(As long as it’s not a Mac.)

Because buying a Mac is a slap in the face to all the dedicated Windows fans across the Internet.

And vice versa.
