I’m considering majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in chemical engineering. I heard that at some point the classes for both interact. Is it true? And, how difficult would that be?
There is some overlap, particularly in the thermal fluid sciences. How difficult it would be depends on the school and what they require for a minor. The better question: how useful would it be? The answer: generally not very useful.
There a lots of other threads that explain that double majors (and minors) are usually not helpful. The good news is that at most schools you can be undecided the first year and not choose Mechanical vs Chemical until you’ve had some coursework.
